Caswell House | Brand Design | The Bespoke Brand Designer

Working with wonderful Clients designing and bringing to life their brand is what I’m passionate about. In this monthly showcase series, I will be sharing with you a selection of the many brands I’ve created.

I enjoy every minute of designing, I am very lucky in that I absolutely LOVE my job. From the initial consultation through to delivering the final files. The most rewarding element for me is the big reveal. The anticipation, the excitement, the process of creating a brand that someone is proud to show off! It’s what drives me.

This showcase series aims to capture the journey, from start to finish, giving you an insight into the intricate journey I go through with every Client.

I hope you enjoy it!

CASWELL HOUSE | OUTSTANDING LUXURY, A HERITAGE DESIGN STEEPED WITH HISTORY

In September 2018 I had the great pleasure of being commissioned to rebrand the most incredible wedding and event venue set in the most stunning grounds in The Cotswolds, Caswell House.

Kate and her family live and work at Caswell House and not only for them, but also their team, it is a labour of love as well as a business and they cherish each corner of this historical gem with great care and attention.

THE DESIGN BRIEF – ‘OUTSTANDING LUXURY’

The brief was to bring the brand ‘Caswell House’ into the 21st century, make it timeless, reflect the incredibly high standards they work to and be sympathetic to the history of this stunning place. Alongside the re brand, they were undertaking a huge renovation of the buildings to offer wedding couples the ultimate place to have their dream wedding with outstanding luxury bedrooms and facilities for a perfect stay.

IMMERSING MYSELF INTO 16TH CENTURY HISTORY

When I first visited Caswell House I was stuck by its serenity, calmness, charm and utter beauty. The Loggia you see in this picture dates back to the 16th century and is the place where outside wedding ceremonies take place. To me, this felt like the heart of the estate – where its roots lay and the centre point of everything it represents.

Taking the time to Immerse myself into Caswell House was effortless. As soon as I laid eyes on the Loggia I knew exactly where I was heading with the rebrand. The journey from understanding Kate’s brief to bringing the Caswell House rebrand to life is what drives my passion for design.

BESPOKE HAND DRAWN DESIGN | THE CREATION OF A BEAUTIFUL ICON | THE LOGGIA

I took about the idea of making the Loggia the centrepiece of the brand, hand drawing each detail to create a simple but true representation of this beautiful icon of Caswell House. Kate and Kirsten LOVED this idea and with a few tweaks it was perfected.

ATTENTION TO DETAIL | A TIMELESS  NOD TO TRADITION BUT WITH A MODERN FLAIR

The font I have chosen has both a nod to tradition and a modern flair – it is clear, unfussy but with enough detail to capture your attention and will look and feel timeless for years to come.

The colour palette is a true match to the soft, muted tones you see throughout the estate, warm tones to match the Cotswold stone, a pale rustic green and gentle neutrals as accent colours. Of course we added a gold foil to everything – this REALLY works so beautifully against the earthy tones and gives a pop of class throughout.

When we thought about the stationery and brochures we wanted to keep close to the feeling of tradition, high quality and sustainability – therefore we chose a thick uncoated card from G H Smith (the crème da la crème of papers) that feels gorgeous to touch with its slightly rough finish that sets off that gold so gracefully.

TO COMPLETE THE REBRAND | A BEAUTIFULLY COMMISSIONED WEBSITE

The website is DIVINE even though I do say so myself! I designed it’s look and feel and the developers Kate commissioned took my design brief and created a site that is beautifully in keeping with the brand. It’s easy to navigate and showcases the incredible photography from some brilliant photographers. Photography itself is an art, the importance of styling and capturing the perfect images for a website is so very important. This has really enhanced this brand identity.

Most of the internal shots are recent ones from the incredibly talented Lydia Stamps Photography. I knew Lydia would be the perfect person to capture the beauty and essence of Caswell. The renovations were (of course) stunning as you can see from some of these amazing pictures.

A SPECIAL PLACE, A SPECIAL PROJECT, A SPECIAL BRAND | CASWELL HOUSE IS OUTSTANDING LUXURY AT ITS FINEST

Overall I am DELIGHTED with the end result and so happy to say I had the most amazing journey with Kate and Kirsten. Bringing their branding to life has been an incredible experience. I feel very lucky to have been asked to be a part of such a special project and highly recommend Caswell House to Clients and contacts who now book this incredible place for their weddings, events and photoshoots.
